Welcome to Project X13

Project X13 is a Pagan / Neo-Pagan / Heathen educational and networking community covering Paganism, Neo-Paganism, Currently practiced Indigenous religions, and Heathenry.
I believe that there is a lot of knowledge being lost out there, as well as quite a bit of disinformation.
Project X13 is my attempt to save as much of that knowledge as I can, while weeding through the disinformation..

Towards that goal I have searched the internet for Pagan Documentries, provided spaces for each member to have their personal blog, as well as allowing our members to start and run their own Groups.

I have also posted some of my essays, along with those of others that were considerate enough to allow them to be posted on other websites, however I am still looking for people to write essays on related subjects.

One of the other new aspects of Project X13 is the Music section, where one can post Pagan / Neo-Pagan / Heathen music videos from YouTube.
The concept behind this is to use the bardic arts to teach each other about our true histories and cultures.
The Irish have a saying:
The conquerors write the history, the conquerored write the songs.
Only by using both the songs/oral history as well as documented history can we get the larger picture.

I envision Project X13 as becoming an online library of all the Pagan, Neo-Pagan, Heathen. and currently practiced Indigenous religions, an effort to keep what we have left, not just here in the US, but the minority religions worldwide.

Please come share and explore, and course you can invite all your friends!

Sites in Hot Springs National Park investigated

It is the oldest national park in our country's park system. The history inside Hot Springs National Park is thousands of years old. And a group of park service archeologists are trying to sort it all out.

Holes are dug in 10 meter intervals.
Deep in the woods, near a stream in Hot Springs National Park, they dig.

And with each shovel full of dirt, there is anticipation that something - something perhaps thousands of years old will be found.

"There's a lot of archeology back here, both historic and pre-historic," says Bill Hunt, who is an archeologist with the National Park Service.

He leads a team from Lincoln, Nebraska exploring a site first discovered in 1974 by a young archeologist from Fayetteville.

As states across the country scramble to close budget gaps, many are targeting state parks. Arizona is the first to go through with it. In February, the state closed five of its 30 parks, and a number of them contain fragile archaeological sites. Now residents are taking steps to prevent looting.

Homolovi Ruins State Park is one of five Arizona parks that closed in February, casualties of a state budget crunch. Lawmakers are expected to consider more closures this summer.
Protecting Hopi Artifacts

On a clear, calm day, Homolovi Ruins State Park has one of the best views in northern Arizona. To the north are the red-rock mesas of the Hopi Nation. To the west, the Little Colorado River and snowcapped San Francisco Peaks.

Bluestonehenge

Bluestonehenge
Volume 63 Number 1, January/February 2010
By Eric A. Powell

http://www.archaeology.org/1001/trenches/bluestonehenge.html

Over the past two years, archaeologists have unearthed evidence of a previously unknown stone circle less than two miles from Stonehenge. Dubbed "Bluestonehenge" by members of the Stonehenge Riverside Project, a consortium of researchers from several British universities, the circle may have once included 24 standing stones known as bluestones, six-foot-tall megaliths that were brought from quarries in the Preseli Hills 150 miles away. The new discovery supports the theory that Stonehenge was the center of a Neolithic ritual mortuary complex--"the domain of the dead"--while the nearby timber-post sites of Durrington Walls and Woodhenge were the "domain of the living" (see "Sacred Stones").

Whether it's selling an iPhone app for reading runes or teaching church-basement ladies how to get their medieval chanting groove on, Kari Tauring connects ancient Scandinavian rituals to modern life.
