Clean Your Toothbrushes Naturally - How To

Clean Your Toothbrushes Naturally - How To

Inspired by Home Enlightenment, by Annie B. Bond (Rodale Press, 2005).

http://www.care2.com/greenliving/clean-toothbrushes-naturally.html

Toothbrushes can be breeding grounds for germs. In fact, many people
advocate throwing away and replacing toothbrushes every month. But
that can get expensive, not to mention wasteful: who needs landfills
bristling with used toothbrushes?

So here are two simple methods for cleaning your toothbrushes, so you
can get more mileage out of them and stay healthier in the process!
Read the simple directions here:

1. Let your toothbrush sit for 24 hours after it has dried out. This means every family member needs to have three toothbrushes that are rotated, since most of us brush morning and night and the brushes never really have a chance to dry out.

2. Soak your toothbrushes in straight household vinegar every two weeks. Vinegar kills most molds, germs, and bacteria.

This great formula sounds too good to keep to yourself: small bottles
of it, tied with ribbon, might make great stocking stuffer's. Here is
the simple formula:

1/4 cup dried lavender blossoms
1/4 cup dried thyme
1/2 cup distilled water

1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan and heat over low heat, simmering, covered, for 30 minutes.

2. Strain and discard the herbs. Allow vinegar to cool to room temperature, then add distilled water. Store in a dark bottle away from direct heat and light.

For Beautiful Hands - Natural Manicure How - To

For Beautiful Hands - Natural Manicure How-To

Inspired by Home Enlightenment, by Annie B. Bond (Rodale Press, 2005).
Our hands are extra-busy at holiday time: think of all those
snapshots of loving hands bearing platters for the feast, results of
the same hands chopping, stirring, and kneading. Then there's all the
wrapping and decorating we do this time of year. Hands this busy
often develop cracked, brittle nails, and cold weather can lead to
chapping and drying. But professional manicures take time and money,
not to mention that many manicurists use products with chemicals in
them that can have a less-than fabulous effect on our health.

That's where these easy steps for a home manicure come in super-
handy, not only at holiday time, but any time. The process doesn't
take long, and it's wonderfully relaxing, as well. Find out the
simple steps to soothed, nourished, beautiful hands and nails.

1. First, file your nails, going in one direction only. (No sawing!)

Lavender Bath Bags

Lavender Bath Bags

• ¼ cup of Lavender Extra flowers
• ¼ cup of Oatmeal
• 8 drops of Lavender oil
• 15cm x 15cm (or larger) piece of cotton or other soft cloth
• Ribbon or elastic tie
(More Lavender Extra flowers can be used loose for bath)
1. Place dried Lavender Extra flowers and Oatmeal in middle of
material.
2. Drop approximately 7 drops Lavender oil onto Oatmeal
and Lavender pile.
3. Gather up the material so the Lavender/Oatmeal mix is in a round
ball, and the material can be tied so the mix is secured. Tie firmly.
4. Place bag in bath as you are filling it.
5. More loose Lavender flowers can also be thrown in the bath tub as
it is filling.
6. The water will feel softer and look whiter from the oatmeal and
Lavender in the water. Heaven for your skin! The bath bag can be used
to rub your skin as you bathe.
